Creepy/Cute Nail Art BLUESEA-RL10D

So I got some products for review last week and I already used the AWESOME nail foil. KKCenterHK also sent me these cool little eyeballs. They fall under a category they call bluesea, which I assume is some term I am not familiar with that means raised sticker decall thing. They arent stickers persay but they remind me of those stickers that are covered in the semi-hard gel to make them cabochon like... gosh this explaination is killing me! Heres a close up picture:

These are a hard plastic cab eye, pretty cool if you ask me! They have a bunch of other ones that are a lot more conventional like bows and butterflies and little square picture things. Go to their website http://www.kkcenterhk.com/index.html and you can find them with the product number BLUESEA-RL10D or just click here for a direct link they are called Roundlet Eyeball.

So I picked a gruesome product so I could do this idea I have had in my mind for forever of gruesome kawaii-like creatures. I wanted blood, gore, zombification, and whatever. This is what I came up with:

I tried to match the eyeball with his other eyeball and make it look like it was hanging on, if i had added some red string or something it might have looked a bit better. But I like the way it turned out!

Want to see the rest? Of course you do!

creepy, morbid, cute, silly, deadly, nail art, zombicorn, gross, adorable

I am super thrilled with how these came out. So the thumb nail is a bunny with an eyepatch:

You cant see it very well but he's got pinked cheeks and ears... super adorable! Then next guy is a punk zombicorn (unicorn)

Hes got bloodshot eyes, dirty blood covered teeth, and a gothic spike/stud for a horn. EEk he might be my favorite. The middle finger has the cute little dude with his eyeball handing out. The ring finger is a nondescript purple dude with a knife stabbing him.

He was a toughie, It took some real persuasion to get my little brother to part with a lego knife when he knew I was going to cut the blade off... yeesh. But I think it was pretty worth it! The last guy is a little dead Nemo

Hes got a little hook hanging out of his mouth and his last dying bubbles are drifting upwards!

So overall I really liked these nails. The eyeball was just what I was looking for. The only drawback is that mine is not re-usable the eyeball design has no protection and peeled right off when I pulled it from the nail... maybe there is a better way to use it... maybe a bit of topcoat to seal it in?
Either way I dont mind four bucks for a really specific one use item... I would rather it be multi use but it is what it is. You guys can get 10% off your order if you use the code NAILFREAK now until the end of next January.

What do you think of my morbid mani, cute right?

Essie In the Cab-ana

I went to a baby shower over the weekend and took some inspiration from the pink unicorn nails I did. Because they are having a boy I tweeked it a little...

Essie In the Cab-ana, Baby Shower, Rubber Duckie

I didnt have a baby themed Hex charm I decided to go with a hand drawn duckie since it matched the wrapping I did for the gift!

I made that bow too! With hot glue and a wooden duck thing from Hobby Lobby!
I had so much fun doing all this! Being creative makes me so happy!

Nail It Magazine

Hey guys, no new polish to report on (although I have a set of Julie G gumdrop polishes sitting here, waiting to be swatched and another set to giveaway... so be on the lookout).
That being said, I went to Walgreens the other day and picked up a bunch of stuff including the latest issue of Nail It magazine. I was hesitant because its 5 bucks which to me is about the same or almost the same as getting a bottle of polish. But I am SUPER glad that I did because I learned new things, read interesting articles (one in particular about men wearing polish), and was inspired to do some nail art.

This is the cover and I was so taken with the model's nails that I wanted to recreate it! They tell you how on one of the pages so it sounded easy enough
First I cut strips of electrical tape for the rectangles, placed them on my nails then used OPI Eurso Euro to paint the nail. Its the same color they used in the picture.
Then I removed the electrical tape and filled in the void with Orly Luck Duck. Despite green being my favorite color I lean more to neon greens so I dont actually have any true or kelly greens. I think I want to go pick up Essie Shake Your $$ Maker... but the one they used for the pic is apparently Essie First Timer... they dont make it very clear. Then I outlined the square in white.
Anywhoo, heres what I came up with!

I love this!!! SO much so that its been days but I still dont want to take it off! Instead I just touched it up! But it will be gone tomorrow :( Im going for a spa day which includes a mani-pedi, so they will wipe it clean.

What do you think? Have you seen this magazine yet? Go buy this now, its fun and has some great pics and product ads.

PS: what color should I get on my hands and feet at the spa tomorrow? Im thinking purple... or orange... or something neon if its bright enough (like blue?)

Julep Carrie, Hex Nail Jewelry

I got this polish in my Valentines Julep Mystery Box along with a bunch of other pinks and reds. I like this one because it is super girly, which I dont typically do.
With the exception of this manicure:

LOVE IT!!! Im more of a black polish and studs kind of gal, but I really wanted to show off my new Hex Charm (the unicorn). I saw these on Chalkboard Nails blog on Tuesday and immediately went to Hex's Etsy page to buy as many as I could think to use for manicures... 10 to be precise.

Look at how adorable that little unicorn is!!! I love this manicure... I've been into nail art a bit more than usual.
So Julep Carrie is the pink, it went on super smooth, but I did add a bit of thinner as I usually do to Julep polishes. It is two coats for the most part. The white is OF COURSE American Apparel T-Shirt. I used a dotting tool to make the shape of the bow on the thumb then used my Sally Hansen pen in black to outline it and give it shape. The index was done with all LA Colors stripers, I painted the middle with Carrie then used striping tape to box the white background of the frame. Then used a dotting tool and a black striper to make the "frame". I painted the ring finger white then used striping tape to block out the lines then painted Carrie over it and used a black striper to do the bow. I am ashamed of the pinkie... it didnt come out as well as it should have, I got the shakes a bit. But used a dotting tool for that.

The right hand is no where near as fabulous... but it'll do:

Please excuse the lack of clean up, the stubby middle finger and the misshapen index... also the torn up cuticles, DONT JUDGE ME :'(
Well its better than nothing!

Go buy some Hex Charms... DO IT!

Pop Beauty Loud Lime

I love love love green... but its not my favorite polish to buy for whatever reason... it looks decent on me, but i just never buy it. Hmmmmm. So I forced myself to pick this up the other day at Ulta.

This is Loud Lime. I like some of the colors that Pop puts out, they aren't the most unique but I thought this one was different from others I have. It looks like it should glow in the dark, but it doesnt... le sigh

By the way, I hate the way this applied, this is three coats of imperfection all around... yuck, it needed a ridge filler I'm sure, but it was also thick and just uneven all around. Hopefully some thinner will fix this bad boy.
Either way, I have been pretty bored with plain nail polish lately... I have been dying to replicate some images from a tokidoki eye shadow brush box that I got for Christmas... Here we go

HEHE, bullet with an eyepatch and a diamond with a bad attitude!!! TOO CUTE!

I used a grey shimmery The New Black polish for the light grey and China Glaze Recycle for the dark grey on the bullet, and Butter London Diamond Geezer for the Diamond. Then I used my Sally Hansen nail art pen in Black to do all the outlining. Those pens sure make it easy to draw. I like the way they came out! Too back I cant do it on my left hand, oh well!

Have you ever tried Pop Beauty before? What do you think?

Nails Inc Baker Street

I needed a pick me up today... time for Baker Street!

What a BEAUTIFUL color, this is two coats... but it needs a bit MOAR!!!

BLAMSKIES! I used a white striper and a dotting tool and a black nail art pen; on the pinky is China Glaze Whirled Away. There's also some bling on the thumb...

Better shot of that bling! My thumb matches my bling cap! Everytime I see this bottle and use the polish it is an instant pick me up! Gatta love it when a polish can improve your mood, right?

Whats your go to polish when youre in a bad mood?

Photo Dump

This is where all of my late posts go to die... stuck in dumps without their own posts, le sigh.

If I could be bothered to take a bit of time and draw this better it would be my header on my blog... But I cant draw on computers very well

This was a Christmas Nail that didnt make it. If I could, I would go back and replace one of the earlier ones with this one... meh. Its Urban Outfitters Holo Pink with some of my stripers in red, gold, and green.

Boyfriend bought me some last minute Christmas gifts the day after Christmas. This is Butter London's British Racing Green!!! I have heard on the grapevine that deep green will be the color of 2013, IM READY FOR THIS ONE!

I bought myself the documentary Nailgasam and it kind of inspired me to screw around with patterns and neons... these are unnamed Color Club colors and my  Sally Hansen art pen. I may have to develop this idea further.

I have been listening to this song non-stop for two weeks now... Im not really big on hip hop or rap or whatever, but this is my jam! I am kinda messing around with ideas for inspired nails.... if I ever do a challenge you can bet your ass I will use this! The "thumb" and "pinkie" are the color of blue like the polish they close up on :14 seconds in. The "index" is his sweater on 2:42, the middle is the dress from 1:40 and the "ring" finger is the suit on 2:57. I LOVE THIS SONG RIGHT NOW!!! WARNING: Explicit Language

Finally, I have been dying to show off my Helmer.

I really love stickers, but since I dont put any on my car I end up saving a bunch of them... like the "I Brake For..." I just end up collecting them. So when I decided I needed a Helmer I began buying more stickers! A lot of them came from RedBubble.com mostly the nerdy ones!

These little gems came from 23 Madison Studio She draws and makes these cute little stickers. The one I bought had 20 little different lacquer bottles.

OK: Now on to the contents This is the top drawer. I keep my dotting tools, gems, stickers, filmo, orange sticks, nail art pens, magnets, cuticle scissors, nail clippers, flocking powder, striping tape, tweezers, oils, files, falsies, and nail wraps in here... among other things

Drawer two has my base coats, topcoats, glitter top coats, cuticle remover and stripers.

Drawers three, four, and five have my polishes in them... semi color coordinated. The pictures have most of them... a few empty spots are stuff I havent put away and then there are about 7 new ones I havent made space for yet.

The last drawer has boring stuff in it, random cuticle care kits, business cards, lotions, acetone free polish remover (for jewels and stuff) extra cotton balls (I keep my cotton balls in a nice glass jar with lid that I picked up at Hobby Lobby... kinda decorative) and my favorite lotions, oils, polish remover pumps and jar scrubs are on top of my desk. Its a pretty good set up because my desk has a glass top, so when I want to do nail art or dotting I just dab the lacquer right onto my desk and clean up is super easy!

Yippee! So that was what I really wanted to show off... I think its pretty cool. This has been my favorite photo dump yet!

What's your favorite way to store polish? Any good products I should know about?

Twelve Nails of Christmas: Day 9

So I am really over these dark Christmas colors... today's nail is fluro: NEON CHRISTMAS!!! (I have to make this exciting or I will give up, I am so over doing Christmas nails!)

This was really hard to capture with the camera... I used Urban Outfitters Neon Red and Illamasqua Nurture with Sephora by OPI  nail design pens in Inked in Pink and Read Between the Lines. I drew little Christmas trees and presents.

The pens were easy to use... no different from Sally Hansens, but I picked them up at TJ Maxx for 3.99 a piece. I bought the pink and green, and also a blue called Graffiti Girl Blues, and a purple called Connect the Dots... so expect more of these drawn on designs sometime.

This doesnt scream Christmas, but like I said... Im sick of Christmas nails already. I cant wait to do the one I have planned for Christmas day, but other than that, I know theres only 2 others, BUT JEEZ how many of these do I have to do? 12? oh yeah, right. I guess I should stop whining, that's not that many...

What do your Christmas nails look like? If I get any emails with pictures I want to post them on a "day after Christmas" post.
